Ever since Copesco & Sefrisa was founded in 1853, we have built on our two most valuable assets, tradition and experience, to provide the best products to our customers.
Our history and close relationship with sea products began 155 years ago when Santiago Daurella, the company´s founder, pioneered the importation of large amounts of bales of cod from Iceland, Greenland, Norway and the Faroe Islands into Spain in order to subsequently sell them throughout the country.
Ever since then we have focused on working directly with our producers, a strategy which has enabled us to ensure a stable supply, select the highest quality fish, and adapt the raw material to the characteristics of our production process.
Over the years we have specialised in marketing the authentic North Atlantic cod, and have established a strict classification system of our own that allows us to provide our clients with a guarantee of origin and of quality. Thanks to this we have become one of the leading importers of codfish over the last few decades, importing over 3,000 tonnes of fish per year.
In the 60´s our control over supply sources and our solid market position allowed us to diversify our product range and add a new activity: smoked fish. Furthermore, thanks to an exclusive, artisanal Scandinavian formula which is applied from the start of the processing, we have succeeded in making ROYAL smoked fish a brand that is synonymous with quality and prestige.
