High protein content and low fat content. Cod is a white fish, and as such it has a low fat content. Due to this it is recommended in weight-loss and weight-control diets. It is also an important source of vitamins, minerals and proteins of high biological value, characteristics which, when combined with its delicious taste, make it an ideal food for everyone.

Cod is also recommended for sports or muscle-growth diets as well as diets for children due to its high protein content. About 17%-20% of its total composition comprises proteins of high biological value, that is to say they are easily assimilated by the body and are noted for their purity and quality. This fish has one of the highest protein contents of all fish, as does tuna fish, although cod has a lower fat content, specifically less than 1%.

The nutritional value of 1kg of cod is equal to 3.2 kg of fish.
Cod is more nutritional than fish, beef or chicken.
